John Denver became a star with the folk-based songs he wrote, most of which are set in Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in the love of Colorado and then settled in Aspen. More than a few people traveled through Colorado due to Denver's famous anthems to his adopted state. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the hall's curator of fame, stated: "I don't believe there any other performer who embodies Colorado like John Denver." Denver was the very first Hall of Fame inductee in the year 2011. Denver is a symbol of the state for people worldwide. Through my many travels, I have met many people who are not from Colorado. People will beg, "Oh John Denver!" When they hear you're from Colorado. Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads is the only Denver Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist following his time in small Folk Music Groups. The song was written with Bill Danoff. Danoff originally wrote it with Johnny Cash's music with a focus on Johnny Cash, however Denver knew from the first time he heard early versions that the song could be a huge success. Danoff recorded the song just a few days following playing at Washington D.C. before an crowd that was extremely enthusiastic.
